Open Lab Policies (for Students, Faculty and Staff)
The New Media Writing Studio operates in part as an open lab for use by TCU students, faculty, and staff 30-40 hours a week each semester. Check our Weekly Schedule for our current hours and for lab closings due to class reservations.
Please complete a User form each time you visit the Studio.
For Teachers Preparing to Teach New Media Assignments
If you're a teacher and you'd like help developing a new media writing assignment for your class, we're happy to help you.
Teachers who assign new media writing projects should have some basic knowledge of the software products and design principles students will need to know and use. The New Media Writing Studio staff can assist teachers in learning and teaching these basics. Send all requests for services to newmedia@tcu.edu.
- Submit class reservation only requests two weeks in advance
- Submit requests for NMWS presentations or workshops three weeks in advance
- Submit requests for help with assignment design and software learning 4-6 weeks in advance.
If you want to reserve the Studio or to set up a consultation to develop a new media assignment, all you need to do is:
- Open up and complete the Project Order Form
(an editable PDF).- Save the form to your desktop,
- Attach the form to an email, and send it to newmedia@tcu.edu.

the nmws is a service. We can help you create instructional sessions and tutorials for your classes on subjects you request: Working with Images, Video Production, Textual Design Basics, and more. Rickel 38 can be reserved for a single class meeting or a multi-week unit for classes working on new media rich assignments.
